2026-2027 Tryout Information
The Northumberland Breakers are looking ahead to an exciting 2026–27 season, and we are pleased to share information about upcoming tryouts and player identification opportunities. Whether your child is returning to the program or exploring the Breakers for the first time, we offer several pathways for athletes to be evaluated and considered for team placement.
Re‑Signing Returning Players: June 1st - 27th
Players currently registered with the Northumberland Breakers may be invited to re‑sign to any team for theupcoming season.
- Re‑signing is based on coach evaluation and program needs.
- Re‑signing provides continuity for athletes who have demonstrated commitment, development, and
- alignment with the Breakers program.
- Players could be invited to sign with any Breakers Team, so they may receive multiple offers.
- Players receiving offers will get direct communication from the 2026-27 coaching staff through parent email
- Players have 48 hours after receiving the offer to accept. The offers can be given again, for another 48
- hours until the close of the re-sign window.
- Once players have accepted the offer, families will need to pay a deposit of $400, which is non-refundable.
- If you sign a re-sign offer, you cannot leave to play with another club unless you are released from the
- Breakers by both the club and the OVA.
- June 30th is the last day for clubs to submit their list of re-signed athletes to the OVA.
Open Court Sessions: June 2026
Open Court Sessions are informal opportunities for athletes to get on the court, play volleyball, and become familiar with the Northumberland Breakers program. These sessions are designed to:
- Give players a chance to play in a relaxed, supportive environment
- Allow athletes and families to get to know our club culture
- Provide opportunities to meet and interact with Breakers coaches
- Help players gain comfort with coaching styles, expectations, and training approaches
- Open Court sessions cost $30 each, paid through TeamSnap.
- No refunds if a clinic is missed after you have signed up and paid.
Open Court Sessions are not formal evaluations and do not guarantee placement on a team. Instead, they are intended to support relationship‑building, confidence, and familiarity with the Breakers program prior to ID Clinics, tryouts, or the Open Offer Period.
Currently June 5th & June 12th are being held for these sessions.
Identification Clinics: July
ID Clinics provide an opportunity for players to be evaluated in a structured, development‑focused environmentprior to formal tryouts.
- Open to both returning and new players. They can also be invitation only opportunities.
- Led by Breakers coaches and staff.
- Clinics allow athletes to showcase skills, work ethic, and coachability.
- ID Clinics cost $30 per person to cover the expense of the gym rental, but are free to any player who has re-signed and paid their $400 deposit.
- Age groups will offer a maximum of 3 sessions in July
- Participation in an ID Clinic does not guarantee team placement but it is one way players may be identified for the Breakers program.
- No refunds if a clinic is missed after you have signed up and paid.
Dates, age groups, and registration details for ID Clinics are pending and will be shared separately.
Open Offers: July 1st-August 31st
Following re‑signing and ID Clinics, the Northumberland Breakers enter an Open Offer Period . This period allows the program to formally offer roster spots to any selected athletes based on evaluations and team needs.
During the Open Offer Period:
- Families of selected players will receive a time‑limited offer to join a Breakers team for the 2026–27 season.
- Offers may be extended in stages as teams are finalized and even continue throughout the playing season, until rosters are locked in February 2027
- Players receiving offers will get direct communication from the 2026-27 coaching staff through parent email
- Players have 48 hours after receiving the offer to accept. The offers can be given again, for another 48 hours until the close of the re-sign window. If a player does not wish to accept the offer at this point, they can still try out during try outs.
- Once you have accepted the open offer, you will need to pay a deposit of $400 which is non-refundable.
- Families are asked to respond within the stated timeframe so that coaches can continue roster planning.
- If an offer is declined or expires, the position may be offered to another athlete.
The Open Offer Period is designed to ensure a fair, transparent, and organized team‑building process while respecting that families may be considering multiple opportunities.
Additional details regarding timelines, registration requirements, and next steps will be shared directly with families who receive an offer.
